ŽPCG (Željeznički prevoz Crne Gore, Жељезнички превоз Црне Горе) is the national passenger transport operator in Montenegro.

Validity of FIP Tickets

Validity FIP Coupon

First select the issuer of your FIP Card. If you are eligible, you can request the FIP Coupons through your employer. Please note that we are unable to assist with the issuance of FIP Coupons. You can find an overview of all FIP Coupons in the FIP Application.

Validity FIP Reduced Ticket

Railway companies typically offer a discount with FIP, also known as FIP50 or FIP75. The discount is usually 50 %, sometimes 75 %. To find out what discount applies to you, first select the issuer of your FIP Card. You can find an overview of all discounts in the FIP Application.

FIP Coupons and FIP 50 Tickets are valid on ŽPCG services. For cross-border journeys, either a continuous FIP 50 Ticket or FIP Coupons for both countries must be available.

Train Categories and Reservations

National Trains
FIP accepted No reservation possible

The ŽPCG operates regional trains in domestic traffic, which are second class only. The trains do not have line designations and only carry a train number.

Upon presentation of the FIP Card, a 50% discount is granted on regular ticket prices.

  • Podgorica - Nikšić
International Trains
FIP accepted Reservation required

Between Montenegro and Serbia, ŽPCG operates daytime trains in the summer months as well as year-round night trains with seated, couchette and sleeping cars and (partly) dining cars. These run on the route Bar - Podgorica - Bijelo Polje - Belgrade.

Upon presentation of the FIP Card, a 50% discount is granted on regular ticket prices.

Reservation

A reservation is mandatory. The cost in first and second class is EUR 3 per seat.1

The costs for couchette and sleeping car reservations (click on a service and then on “Beds”) vary depending on the coach class. An additional 10% service fee applies for couchette/sleeping car reservations.2

Bus
FIP not accepted

FIP tickets are not valid on bus lines operated by ŽPCG, unless these are rail replacement services.2

Apparently, tickets and reservations can also be booked by email via info@zpcg.me and collected at a ŽPCG Ticket Office. Since this works for Interrail, it should also be possible with FIP. 3

However, we do not have official information on this procedure.

At the stations Podgorica, Sutomore, Bar, Bijelo Polje and Nikšić, ŽPCG operates ticket offices where FIP tickets and reservations for national and international passenger transport can be purchased. Further information on ticket office locations is available on the ŽPCG website.

Additional Information

On the Train

FIP discounted tickets can be purchased on the train. A surcharge of EUR 1 applies if the journey starts at a station with a ticket office (Bar, Sutomore, Podgorica, Nikšić, and Bijelo Polje).4

Discounts

For public fares, children up to 6 years travel free of charge. Children up to 14 years receive a 50% discount on the adult fare. Children aged 14 and older pay the adult fare.2

Rail Replacement Services

FIP tickets are not valid on bus lines operated by ŽPCG, unless these are rail replacement services.2

Break of journey

Breaks of journey are permitted within the validity period of the ticket.2

Bulky Luggage

Luggage that cannot be stored either above or below the seat is considered bulky luggage. Additional fees apply. The exact prices can be found in the conditions of carriage.5 For travellers with an FIP Coupon, no fee is charged for carrying travel luggage up to 30 kg.
